The entry of Charles Phillips into Infor is considered to be a coup as many people were very surprised of his hiring. Infor foremost wanted to have a Chief Operations Officer, and when they discovered that Phillips was available for employment, they took on the role of getting him as their CEO. For this reason, Infor’s owner Jim Schaper had to step down as CEO and have Phillips get the CEO position. Schaper still remains as the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Infor. Charles Phillips is mostly classified and associated to the successes that Oracle has gained throughout the years. In 2003, Phillips was hired as Vice President for Strategy, Partnerships, and Business Development. If there are additional actions that made the business stand out to be the best in the market, it was the fact they had major acquisitions during his stay with the company as well. Phillips made sure that his mode of business development was to gain as much of the market, and he did it best by taking over smaller software developers in the region.
